The Beginning

Born in 1993, to the family of Segun Adeku, a neo-traditional Osun Osogbo artist. Gbenga grew up as an apprentice at Olokun art gallery & studio, mastering linocut, etching & painting. He was trained to sculpt under the tutelage of Kola Olayinka in 2006. He furthered training as an artist at the Great Ife Art School (Obafemi Awolowo University) specializing in painting & minoring in graphic art within 2010 to 2015.

Gbenga had been a freelance digital illustrator to National Space Research and Development Agency, PlayAd solutions, Brownies Makeup Ent. and many significant individuals in Nigerian creative industry locally and in the diaspora. He is an independent artist sells his art through social media, private view exhibitions and online art galleries.

He is a proud Alumnus of the Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation. He is an award winning upcycle artist and currently an ambassador of IBplc Nigeria. In 2019 he founded Xtetixupcycle, an upcycle art company aimed at building knowledge capacity to meet climate change through art as a visual education tool, training, material research and upcycling. Gbenga currently lives and run an upcycle art studio in Ile-Ife, Osun state.
